Potions are made in your alchemy lab, and your house also consists of your garden where you pick herbs and mushrooms, the basem*nt where you can repair the alchemy machine and mix legendary recipes and finally, the shop, where you meet customers and traveling merchants.

Potions are distinguished by effect and intensity. Effects are what the potions do – ie. Healing, Poison. One potion can have up to three effects added to it, but customers may pay less for potions that have unintended side effects.
Alchemy is done in the lab with a map, and each “Effect” of a potion can be achieved in several ways. With over 50 different mushrooms, herbs and crystals that you can use in your work you can tinker with your recipes and find out what works best and most efficiently. The game goes through a basic explanation and walks you through making a few potions, showing that you can revealed more of the alchemy map as you explore with your potion bottle icon farther from the center.
Intensities also come in threes, and when you move your potion bottle over an effect bottle you’ll see a I, II or III appear on the bottle. I is the least intense and III is the most. Customers of course will pay more for more intense potions. If you get part of your bottle icon overlapping with the outline of the effect icon, it’s a I. Having the two mostly overlap is a II intensity and managing to get your bottle dead center and perfectly over the middle of the icon will net you a rare and valuable III intensity.

Moving your bottle over the book icons on the map will give you experience points and help you to level up, however, the areas with skulls and bones will ruin your potion if you get too close for too long, so you need to avoid them. Best advice – if you think it’s probably too close, it is.
The green circle in the upper right hand corner is your experience meter. Hover over it to see how many experience points you have and how many you need to reach the next level, or click on it to spend your Talent points. You get one Talent point per leveling up, and there’s several different ways to spend them. You can increase visibility radius on your Alchemy map, increase the frequency of getting daily bonus experience books on the map under Alchemical Practice, raise the base price of goods under Trading or use Haggling to raise your skill haggling with customers and the amount that you can bargain for. We recommend raising Trading and Alchemical Practice first, as Trading nets you more money and Alchemical Practice will get you more experience to level up faster.
Completing tasks on The Alchemist’s Path will also let you level up faster, they can be found on the icon of the book with a II on the cover in the top right hand corner of your bar.
Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator Popularity
Reputation and Popularity aren’t explained as much in game, but completing requests for customers will increase your popularity. Reputation varies depending on the type of customers you choose to cater to. For example, if you turn away a woman who wants to murder her cheating husband, your reputation will go up, but if you turn away a knight seeking help dealing with bandits, your reputation will go down. Conversely, the opposite is true, and should you choose to help the cheater your reputation will be lowered. Popularity will be raised no matter if your reputation goes up or down, as long as you accept the request and sell a potion.
Here are our best tips and tricks for starting out:
- Sell as much as you can. Money is going to be your biggest problem starting out and you can’t afford to be picky about your clientele right out of the gate.
- Avoid paying for fancy ingredients at first. Some are useful for getting around tricky obstacles on the alchemy map, but some are primarily used when you want to collect more experience in a space or if you’re looking to get a potion with intensity III. No point paying for a Blood Ruby when you can get to the same place with a Red Mushroom or two Firebells
- Don’t be afraid to experiment but be careful when you get too near a skull and bones area, you don’t want to take chances and waste ingredients
- Make sure to grab every mushroom and fungus from your garden every day, even if you don’t need them
- Customers can ask for potions with effects you haven’t discovered yet. Don’t drive yourself crazy running around for one potion, especially if you’re low on ingredients
- Re-invest your money into ingredients at first, rebuilding the Alchemy Machine and getting more pages for your recipe book can wait
